It's not only the baby that needs larnin' - teach your guests a thing or two with these creative and inspiring games for a baby shower dedicated to a future Einstein. Baby Name Word ScrambleThis is a fun word game that goes great with a reading/ learning theme. Give each guest a piece of paper and a pen. Ask them to choose a girl's name and a boy's name, or if you already know the sex of the baby, choose a first and middle name. Then ask them to make as many words as they can out of the names in a two or three minute time period. The game gets funny when guests have chosen names like "Bill" or "Lynn" that don't have a lot of options. The guest with the most words when time runs out gets a prize. Name That Character JumbleThis game will require a little preparation before the shower, and perhaps a computer. Comprise a two-column game on a piece of paper for each guest. In one column list 15-20 classic children's books/stories/nursery rhymes. In the second column, list well-known characters from those stories. Pass out the piece of paper to each guest, and give them two minutes to see who can complete the most matches, story to character. The guest with the most correct matches wins a prize. For additional fun, after the match race is over, put all the characters in a hat and play charades with them, with guests having to guess the character and which story they are from. The Memory GameHere's a cute variation on an old favorite. Place 12-15 everyday items on a tray, and keep it covered until you're ready to play. Give each guest a piece of paper and a pen; then, uncover the tray and let them look at it for one or two minutes (depending on how many items there are on the tray). Then ask the mother to be to take the tray from the room. Once she has left, ask the guests 12-15 questions about the mommy-to-be! You can ask what color her eyes are, what shoes did she have on (if any), etc. This is fun and funny, and you will notice how much people remember about the guest of honor! The guest who answers the most questions correctly wins a prize. |
